Community Platform
Tribe offers a comprehensive platform for community building — think of it as a software solution with a range of social tools to create highly engaging online branded communities. It can be used to create different types of communities — from private employee communities and niche social networks to customer communities and support communities.
Hivebrite is a promising tool to create specific types of communities, i.e., alumni communities and volunteer communities.
If you are specifically looking for these types of communities without any restriction on the budget, Hivebrite might be a right match. However, if certain features like membership or event management are optional for you, then Tribe can deliver better value.
Embeddable widgets
We all know the importance of building a community, but what truly makes a difference is the ability to deliver immersive community experience inside the customer journey. Tribe offers this by allowing you to select components of the community and add them to any site or product in the form of widgets.
One of the examples can be adding discussions under product listings in a retail site to allow members to give quick feedback, discover new products and engage with each other. These embeddable widgets are also quite flexible — we have helped our clients with iframe widgets that follow their brand guidelines.
Hivebrite doesn’t offer this type of widgets, so if this is something you wish to achieve with your community, then Tribe would be the perfect platform.
Pricing
In terms of pricing, Tribe offers a free plan with 100 total members and groups feature along with support for your custom domain.
The premium plan starts from $299 per month with annual subscription whhich unlocks unlimited members and all the premium apps. The pricing for the enterprise plan depends on the specific requirements and subscription fee varies widely from client to client.
Hivebrite pricing starts around $500 per month for the basic plan.
So, when it comes to value delivery based on pricing, Tribe delivers better efficiency.
Payment processing
We understand that some of the communities monetize by selling directly memberships and participation ticket in events (both online and offline).
With Tribe, you can certainly manage members, but charging them for access needs to be done via third-party payment processors. And that adds a manual layer making it very hard to monetize the community with Tribe. We’re currently working on this and will release a robust monetization option in the near future.
Hivebrite already has payment processing capability to charge for membership and various events. Choose Hivebrite if easily monetizing the community is your priority.
App store
Tribe has an extensive app store which can be used to add significant business value on top of the existing community platform. Some of the examples are SEO app for organic user acquisition, SSO, virtual coins app for member rewards, a social app for easy sign up using existing accounts in popular social networks.
Hivebrite doesn’t offer these types of apps. So, if you are interested in getting superior value out of the community solution, explore Tribe.
Event management
Tribe doesn’t offer an events module. Some of our clients who are not dependent on events, simply create them on popular sites like Eventbrite and post the same in their community portal. This is something we have in the pipeline, and we’d offer the right solution for better event management.
In case, you are looking to have in-built event management capability with calendar, ticketing, and payment processing, Hivebrite would be a better match.
Reporting and analytics
Tribe has robust reporting and analytics capabilities via both the in-built dashboard and external integration. You can get a quick snapshot of the overall health of your community directly inside the platform. Additionally, you can easily track member behavior and build reports via our tight integration with tools such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, and Amplitude.
Hivebrite doesn’t support these types of deep integrations for granular reporting of metrics.
Choose Tribe if you want to understand precisely how your members are behaving and get a grip on community health. This can help you prove the return on investment and get internal buy-in.
Integrations and API
Tribe offers in-built integrations with many apps (including Zapier) to help clients easily automate processes and enable data flow with other third-party apps. Also, Tribe’s API-first approach allows additional customizations and integration.
It can be anything from popular marketing and campaign management tools to CRM and analytics tools such as Amplitude. Single sign-on, user signup and login process using social networking sites can also be enabled quickly from the app store.
Hivebrite only offers API for integration with business tools. This makes data flow and automation complex and cumbersome. Hence, if you need to easily integrate with other popular tools (e.g., HubSpot, Amplitude, Slack), then Tribe would be the right platform.
Job boards
Tribe doesn’t offer job boards integrated with the community at this point.
Hivebrite offers this module to facilitate job posting, searching, and resume sharing. So, if that’s something you need for your community Hivebrite can be a good choice.
DIY Option
With Tribe’s self-onboarding and pre-populated sample content, you can quickly get started with launching your community. Everything that you need to configure, can be done with our checklist and intuitive interface. Whenever required, you can take the help of your engineering team (e.g., changing the community navigation to merge with your site or product).
In the case of Hivebrite, there is no Do-It-Yourself capability and self-onboarding. So, if you need a community platform that delivers the right balance between extensive customizability and self-service, select Tribe.

Tribe’s design philosophy and engagement tools are inspired by popular social networks which makes it familiar to community members.
Deliver immersive social experience right inside your product, app or website with widgets. Some of the prominent examples can be enabling user discussions under the product listing and showcasing user-generated content when users browse through different features of your product.
Tribe offers a rich app store that can be used to install modular extensions into the community and add new functionality. You can even build new apps on top of the Tribe Platform based on your unique needs.
Tribe is a white-label and customizable community platform. It is designed to help you visually craft your community using different building blocks.
